Heritage and Culture
The Wikwemikong Heritage Organization has successfully implemented a culture and language retention program. Presently, the Heritage/Interpretation Centre is located in the Wikwemikong Bay Marina Building. Its objective is to uphold the uniqueness of Anishinabe way of life by utilizing a holistic approach as was practised by the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Pottawatomi people f Wikwemikong.
The WHO is a non-profit organization committed to the preservation and enhancement of Anishnabe culture, this is met through the education and the participatory cultural opportunities with both native and non-native people. Its objective is to maintain and provide opportunities to sustain our native language and to improve artistic opportunities; to engage in collaborative efforts with other cultural and historical base initiatives and to promote and research native philosophy and belief system. Finally, the WHO organizes the annual cultural festival.
